After your introduction of them in class, I feel that it is a good idea to have an ideal future objective firstly, because it will make your work easier to figure out the problem when you have a goal or criterion to measure. And I think it will be better if you could justify and modify your objective again right after you identify the problem, to see whether the objective that you have made at the first begining is practical and appropriate for the program.
