IDE 611 Week Post

This week I wanted to talk about how you can set up an RSS feed.

Frankly, I began to compose this in writing, but, I think the attached YOUTube video shows you how to set one up and is more helpful than me trying to articulate it in words here.

Take a look at the video: RSS in Plain English.

By the way, in addition to showing you how to set up a feed, the video also tells you about how feeds and readers work and the reasons why you might want to consider using an RSS feed (some of which I have discussed in previous posts).

Enjoy!

  1. Mickey,
I enjoyed that You Tube video - concise, simple information - perfect for folks like me who are trying to figure out all these new-fangled technologies. I am now going to try out the two steps the guy in the video talked about - signing up for a (free) reader (Like Google reader) and then subscribing to my favorite websites by looking for "funny little icons" and clicking on them to subscribe. Do you have any favorite websites that you would recommend?

  2. Mickey,
I also enjoyed the video. It has been helpful reading the information you have found out about RSS feeds and learning along with you; however, videos and anything I can watch and listen to always seem to give me a better picture. Thank you!

  3. Hi Sue,

Hopefully my hands-on demo in my office just now will help guide you to setting up your own.

As we did on my blog, Educause is a great overall higher ed site.

    Happy RSSing!

  4. Hi Ashley,
I think this topic needs a bit of visualization. I've read much about RSS but I needed some graphic guidance to get one up and going.
